Friday 7Th December I'm going to a funeral not sure but do i need to send a wreath/flowers?
might sound a retarded question but seriously i really don't know
Friday 7Th December I'm going to a funeral not sure but do i need to send a wreath/flowers?
Here in Scotland anyway one usually goes along with the wishes of the immediate family, unless you are quite a close relative and wish to send a floral tribute. Often if there is a death announcement in the newspaper and it was the wish of the deceased person not to have flowers it says so. I do think a card would be appropriate. At a Roman Catholic Funeral it would normally be a Mass Card (a special card signed by a priest and although not absolutely necessary usually a small donation is enclosed with it for the priest) although it you are not of the same faith a Sympathy Card would still be much appreciated. With most other religions a Sympathy card is always appreciated. Often also in a newspaper announcement or on arrival at the church/crematorium etc if the family wish donations to a particular charity they let it be known and there is normally a box somewhere. However, this would be a voluntary donation and only if someone wished to give. Black is no longer necessary to wear at funerals but I must admit recently it seems many people still do attend in black or dark colours as a sign of respect. Hope this has helped.
Reply:You don't need to send anything. We went to a funeral recently, brought a bouquet of Lillie's and placed them at the casket. Our next friend was cremated; we sent a donation to his favourite charity.
No need to send anything really, your presence and attention to your friend's family is all that is what is required if you feel you need to do this.
This is a personal time for you as well, you do what you wish.
Remember, they are in your mind and heart forever.
Good wishes.
Reply:No you don't need to send flowers but a card is nice.
My brother's death last yr was the same, unexplained and investigated and we had to wait for the autopsy- It's hard.
The greatest gift you can give is your presence and support.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Reply:It depends how close you were to the deceased, and only you know that.
Why not go to a good florist and ask them? They'll be experienced in that kind of thing.
If you really can't decide, then send flowers anyway. They won't be un-appreciated.
Reply:The customary practice is to send flowers through a florist beforehand. However, when a close friend of ours died suddenly of a heart attack we just took a dozen or so little pots of cyclamen for the tables at the 'wake'. When my mother died, I saw her the day before her funeral, and I put some beautifully scented freesias in her coffin. To this day I still cannot buy freesias.
But yes, to be 'correct' send some flowers through a florist. Or just go with a simple bouquet of beautiful and unusual flowers and ask for them to be placed on a coffin. I have been to so many funerals in my life that I think they are now relatively 'etiquette-free' - just do what your heart tells you. Go out into the fields and hedgerows and pick anything lovely.
Reply:Flowers are usually sent by family and friends - but there's no obligation to.
Did you know the person well? If you want to send some, then do. A lot of people these days give the option of donating to a specified charity instead - if you feel you can't ask the family then ask the funeral director instead.
Reply:Usually flowers/wreaths are given by immediate family members. You didn't say how close you were with the deceased or their family. A sympathy card is appropriate, and you could put $20.00/$25.00 in it if you want to help the family with expenses, especially if you are attending a funeral luncheon . There usually is a rack or drop box type thing at the front of the funeral parlor to insert the card. If you are not real close to the family, like a relative or even distant relative, your presence will be enough to help with the family's mourning.
Reply:Usually the person's family prefer to have a donation made to a charity of their choice. (If the person died of cancer they may want donations to go to Cancer Research instead of a wreath/flowers...much better idea.)
Reply:not really that necessary...I can't remember a single person that sent flowers or made a donation to cancer or heart research (which we asked for in lieu of flowers) but I can remember many who were present at the service we had for my mom.
Reply:Not unless you want to. Most families are most happy you just take the time to attend.
Reply:If you're a family member, close cousin, aunt, uncle, etc., or a really close friend, you would send flowers. If you're a family member but not close or a friend but not close, you can buy a sympathy card and put money inside, or sometimes at the wake they have cards that you can put money inside. If you don't do flowers or money a Mass Card, or a benefit card ex: the Cancer Society, The National Heart Foundation, generally people will donate to the foundation that represents the disease the person may have passed away from, which will either be listed in the newspaper or you can call the funeral home to get extended information.
Reply:Hi you could always ask if the family would like a donation to a charity in stead
Reply:It is a nice gesture but not necessary. Also you could give to charity and have them send a note to the family... kind of nice since they will have so many flowers and plants already.
Reply:Find out from a member of the family whether they would like flowers or a donation to a certain charity they or the departed may have supported in the past.
Reply:Do something useful and make a donation as most funerals often have collections for donation to specific charities, in my fathers case, donations were given to cancer research, other funerals I have been to were given to other cancer charities or the persons favourite charity.
Reply:No, the flowers are usually already sorted out by the next of kin.
Reply:They keep bodies that long where you live ???????
Reply:it's never easy knowing which etiquette to follow for funerals,if the person was well known to you personally, then i would say yes if not then a sympathy card would be ok,the other thing is has the deceased's family requested no flowers, but donations to a particular charity instead, but the main thing to remember is you attendence at the funeral, will be more significant to the family,i hope this helpsyou,

Did you ditch your mother so that you can watch the Pens vs. Philly game tonight?
For over a decade I have lived several thousand miles away from my parents, so I was lucky enough to get away with sending flowers.
Did you guys hang out with your mother this weekend? (Sorry if your mother has passed) What did you get her? Did you cook? She cook? Or did you take her out to dine?
To make this hockey related?
With two teams being in Pennsylvania, do think the Amish ever play hockey?
Did you ditch your mother so that you can watch the Pens vs. Philly game tonight?
I lied again to my Mother. I told her that the Leafs were on their way to winning their 4th Cup in a row.
I figured she and my Father can't haunt me any more than they do now.

Reply:Thanks. Yes, Dr. Noah has a eerie sound to it. Some should be worried. Report It
Reply:Nope, I'm 100+ miles away from Mom, so I got away with a phone call and a promise of presents when she comes out next week. I did hide out in the basement lounge watching the game and ditching a floor meeting, though.
I'm going into town this week and building her a little "Mama's Comforts" basket out of whatever looks like something she'd enjoy.
I think the Amish would rock at hockey, if they're allowed to use ice skates. After all, they can keep their balance way up high building roofs all the time, so skating should be a breeze!
Reply:I am of the philosophy that I dont need to recognize my mom as special one time a year like HALLMARK has told me I should. I treat her like that every time I see her. I see my mom on a regular basis, about once a week. Sure I call her and send her a card or something, but like I said, if you treat your mom good all year long then one day of the year doesnt mean as much to her. Why or who appointed TODAY as the day to treat my mom special? Why cant I do that any day of the year and as many times as I want?
Reply:My mother passed away a few years ago (although my dad is still going strong in Montreal).
I have seen a hockey game played many years ago in a Boston high school hockey tournament, and one of the teams was from Pennsylvania's 'Quaker' area. They weren't a very memorable team though, most people were there to see Brian Lawton at the time.
Reply:We agreed to celebrate Mama Freckles day next weekend as my sister had her graduation yesterday, I worked this afternoon, and my night was devoted to a screaming match with the SO.
I love my mother, therefor, I didn't cook her anything. She has been complaining that she wanted a pic of my sister and I for her desk at work, so we did that.
And yes, they play with brooms and cow paddies.
Reply:I didn't watch last night's game with my Mom, and I feel really bad about it. I might watch tonight's game with her, if she gets home soon.
My Mom didn't want anything, so my dad and I took her to a restaurant last weekend as somewhat of a gift.
I'm sure Amish play, they have the beards to play.
Reply:I ditched my mom to work! But im sure she's watching the game with my dad!
I spent the afternoon with her today before I had to go to work. We just chatted and cleaned up the kitchen and played with my niece.
I got her two bird houses that she wanted and I made her a card, SHE loves home made cards so I figured hey im only 23 I can still make my mommy a card!
I bet they do play hockey? But who knows?
Reply:I actually didn't do much. My mother, my younger sister and I went running around of all south eastern PA though. It was raining too.
I'll be kicking my mother out of the living room here shortly so I can watch the game. I believe my sister is playing Guitar Hero 3 and my mother is reading, but mothers day or not....I'm getting the living room and watching some good old hockey.

What type flowers do you send to someone who has lost their wife? like..roses..umm tulips what??
i need some ideas i dont wana give incorrect condolences
What type flowers do you send to someone who has lost their wife? like..roses..umm tulips what??
My grandmother's favorite color was blue, so when she passed away we gave my mom a beautiful blue Wisteria, which she planted outside the kitchen window. She had loving memories of her mom every day.
I like giving living plants as memorials unless someone doesn't care for gardening or taking care of houseplants. In that case, we donate a tree in the deceased person's name. Check with your local recreation or park department or library to see if they accept donations. Many also will let you put a small plaque there.
No condolences are incorrect if they are sincere.
Reply:Another idea is sending a nice dish garden. It's a grouping of assorted plants in a ceramic container or basket. Some fresh flowers can be added.
Reply:An arrangement of several different types of flowers. Where are the people from? You might ask a florist to make an arrangement of flowers from their own area.
Reply:Did the wife have a fave flower?
The nicest one we got when my grandmother died was an African Violet. Her favorite. We only got the one and it was so neat that the sender knew these were her favorite.....
Reply:Calla Lillies. Expensive, but beautiful, tasteful, and usually a favorite. Nobody hates callas, and they are a lot nicer than the typical roses and carnations that everybody else sends.
Reply:There is no right or wrong, unless you use a novelty container or something strange like that. Believe it or not I had someone request an arrangement to go to their mother's funeral made up in a smiley face mug. That was a weird one. Any nice mixture in a vase is appropriate if you are sending it to his home. If it's going to a funeral, the traditional fan shaped mache arrangement (it's in a mache container) is appropriate as well, though not something the family will take home. A nice blooming plant that can go in the yard later is, in my opinion, the nicest thing you can send, as the family can plant it and have it come back year after year as something of a remembrance of their loved one. Just make sure you choose a blooming plant that can be planted outside....hyacinth, tulip, iris, daffodil, are all fairly readily available this time of year.
Reply:skip the flowers and send a nice card with a check made out to a charity that the deceased supported.

Do a women, send Flowers to her man as an form of an apology?
It does to some extent depend on the guy but even the most 'macho' guys secretly appreciate the sentiment. Regardless of gender we all grew up with fairy tails when we were children...
The important thing is that you need to take into account the guy in this case..... flowers may be great for him but there are also so many other things that can be used as a token gesture for an apology.... if he likes music, a customized CD of love songs or "sorry songs" .... if he has a sweet tooth, how about a birthday cake with "I'm Sorry" on it instead of happy birthday.... or even little love or i'm sorry notes tucked in to his shoes, pockets, even the cookie jar... you are really only limited by your imagination....

THE FIVE LANGUAGES OF APOLOGY by Gary Chapman
www.fivelovelanguages.com
The Five Languages of Apology
~Expressing Regret~
“Expressing Regret” is the Apology Language that zeroes in on emotional hurt. It is an admission of guilt and shame for causing pain to another person.
For those who listen for “Expressing Regret” apologies, a simple “I’m sorry” is all they look for. There is no need for explanation or “pay back” provided the apology has truly come from the heart.
“Expressing Regret” is a powerful Apology Language because it gets right to the point. It doesn’t make excuses or attempt to deflect blame. Above all, “Expressing Regret” takes ownership of the wrong. For that reason, “Expressing Regret” is understood as a sincere commitment to repair and rebuild the relationship.
The “Expressing Regret” Apology Language speaks most clearly when the person offering the apology reflects sincerity not only verbally, but also through body language. Unflinching eye contact and a gentle, but firm touch are two ways that body language can underscore sincerity.
~Accept Responsibility~
It is very difficult for some people to admit that they’re wrong. It makes them doubt their self-worth, and no one likes to be portrayed as a failure. However, as adults, we must all admit that we are sinners and that we will make mistakes. We are going to make poor decisions that hurt our mates, and we are going to have to admit that we were wrong. We have to accept responsibility for our own failures.
For many individuals, all they want is to hear the words, “I am wrong.” If the apology neglects accepting responsibility for their actions, many partners will not feel as though the apology was meaningful and sincere. Many partners need to learn how to overcome their ego, the desire to not be viewed as a failure, and simply admit that their actions were wrong. For a mate who speaks this apology language, if an apology does not admit fault, it is not worth hearing. Being sincere in your apology means allowing yourself to be weak, and admitting that you make mistakes. Though this may be hard to do for some people, it makes a world of a difference to your partner who speaks this language.
~Make Restitution~
In our society, many people believe that wrong acts demand justice. The one who commits the crime should pay for their wrongdoing. A mate who speaks this love language feels the same way towards apologies. They believe that in order to be sincere, the person who is apologizing should justify their actions. The mate who’s been hurt simply wants to hear that their mate still loves them.
There are many effective ways to demonstrate sincerity in an apology. Each mate must learn the other’s love language in order to complete the act of restitution. Though some mates may feel a though all is forgotten with a bouquet of flowers, that may not necessarily work for all mates. Every mate should uncover what their partner’s main love language is (Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Acts of Service, Physical Touch, and Receiving Gifts) and use that specific language in order to make restitutions in the most effective way.
For a mate whose primary apology language is making restitutions, no matter how often you say “I’m sorry”, or “I was wrong”, your mate will never find the apology sincere. You must show strong efforts for making amends. A genuine apology will be accompanied by the assurance that you still love your mate
and have a desire to right the wrong-doings committed.
~Genuinely Repent~
For some individuals, repentance is the convincing factor in an apology. Some mates will doubt the sincerity of an apology if it is not accompanied by their partner’s desire to modify their behavior to avoid
the situation in the future.
It’s important to remember that all true repentance begins in the heart. A mate must feel poorly for hurting their loved one, and rely on God’s help in order to truly change. Admitting you are wrong creates vulnerability. It allows your mate to get a glimpse of your heart. The glimpse of true self is assurance that the apology was sincere.
One important aspect of genuinely repenting is verbalizing your desire to change. Your mate cannot read your mind. Though you may be trying to change inside, if you do not verbalize your desire to change to your mate, most likely they will still be hurt.
Many people have problems with repenting when they do not feel as though their actions were morally wrong. However, in a healthy relationship, we often make changes that have nothing to do with morality and everything to do with building a harmonious marriage.
It is also important to make a dedicated plan for change. Often apologies involving repentance fail because the person never set up steps of action to help ensure success. A person must first set goals for their change. After you create realistic goals, then you can start implementing a plan to change. Taking baby steps towards repentance instead of insisting on changing all at once will increase your chances of successfully changing your ways.
It is important to remember that change is hard. Constructive change does not mean we will immediately be successful. There will be highs and lows on the road to change. You must remember that with God’s help, anyone can change their ways if they are truly and genuinely ready to repent.
~Request Forgiveness~
In some relationships, a mate wants to hear their partner physically ask for forgiveness. They want assurance that their mate recognizes the need for forgiveness. By asking forgiveness for their actions, a partner is really asking their mate to still love them. Requesting forgiveness assures your mate that you want to see the relationship fully restored. It also proves to your mate that you are sincerely sorry for what you’ve done. It shows that you realize you’ve done something wrong. Requesting forgiveness also shows that you are willing to put the future of the relationship in the hands of the offended mate. You are leaving the final decision up to your partner – to forgive or not forgive.
Requesting forgiveness is not easy. It often leaves one vulnerable to the fear of rejection. Along with the fear of rejection is the fear of failing. Many people have a hard time seeking forgiveness because it means admitting that you have failed. The only way to overcome this fear is to recognize that it is very common amongst mankind. The commonality makes it okay to be a failure. It allows a stubborn mate to apologize to their partner and become a healthy individual.
Ultimately, it’s important to remember that there is a difference between asking for forgiveness and DEMANDING forgiveness. When we demand forgiveness, we tend to forget the nature of forgiveness. Forgiveness is a choice the offended party is supposed to make. Demanding forgiveness takes away the sincerity of asking for it.
Remember not to treat forgiveness lightly. It is something to be cherished and appreciated. The act of forgiveness is hard on both ends – for the person who’s asking and for the person who’s accepting.

My G-mas Client (she does wedding flowers) Sent her a Bridel magezen page %26amp; wants the bouqte in it can u help?
Wait - let me see if I have this straight. Your grandmother does wedding bouquets, and somebody sent her a picture of a bouquet from a magazine, and you don't know what magazine, or what issue, or what page, or what ad, but you want us here at Yahoo Answers to tell you how to make the bouquet?
It's Yahoo *Answers*, not Yahoo *Miracles*!
Reply:Hi. I'm confused.
If your grandma does wedding flowers, and her client sent her a picture of what she wants.....then your grandma (being that she has experience and has done this before) should be able to figure out what flowers they are.
I guess I don't understand what you want us to do.....identify flowers from a magazine ad? Again, if your grandmother does wedding flowers, she will know. That is why her client sent her the picture!

Reply:No flowers...talk to her first and see if she would have an interest.
Don't give a girl gifts unless she is your girlfriend. We do not like to be baited with presents...but if she takes your gifts than she is using you, so be careful.
Reply:I would hold off on the flowers----
Reply:Ask her as a friend to the movies, just be like are you busy Friday when she says no say neither am I, would you wanna go see (whatever movie) with me? If she says yes give her the flowers then, if she says no, don't waste your money!
Reply:I am not a girl. But still i thought i may answer this as i have experiance.
Babes if you love someone never be undercover or step back or wait for long time.
Just go in-front and tell her that you love her.
Be a man and with courage you have to tell her face to face that you are the one made for her. As no one has tried on her you must be the first otherwise you will have to be in big trouble. OK fine.
Just be the first and Say directly with a "Rose rose".
Not a red one. cause rose is the starting color.
Say to her face that You loves her.
Believe it she Will be yours.
You are a man. Common now go to her and say it.
Good Luck babes. GO and Make your life.
"May the almighty father bless you for your life"
Reply:You could send her flowers or yellow rosses with a card inviting her out on a date.
Reply:smile back ......let her see you do it.........send her flowers with the card, asking if both of you could share another smile over dinner. Put your name and # and go from there.
Reply:go give her flowers, ask for her number and see what happens
Reply:I wouldn't send her flowers. She hasn't given you her number yet, probably means she doesn't know you well enough. Just strike up a conversation, and get to know her a little better, then do the flower thing.
Reply:Try to make her feel special
Flowers are the best messenger
RED is for LOVE
WHITE is for PURITY
ROSES are for TENDERNESS
YELLOW is for JEALOUSY
Blieve FLOWERS and CHOCOLATES are the way to any girls emotions
Reply:send the stupid flowers already!!! good luck
Reply:send her secret gifts with no name on them %26amp; make her wonder. make her feel special =) lol
Reply:I would talk to her a bit more before sending flowers...U may scare her away! Or better yet...walk up to her and hand her a single flower...that will melt her heart.
Reply:If she's a sweet person, she wouldn't reject flowers and it shouldn't freak her out. You could send them, and on Valentines Day that would be cute, but thats a long time away lol. You don't have to give her anything, and just ask her. Or chocolate, cuz everyone loves it.

Flowers for my love?
I'm sending flowers to a boy I am absolutely obsessed with for his birthday. I need help deciding:
1. what type?
2. single or bouquet?
3. what colors?
etc.
advice anyone?
btw: this will be anonymous. He doesn't know.

ummm.. how bout a different present...?
it's usually the guys that give the flowers...
Reply:Guys love getting flowers but often hate to admit it to their mates when swapping stories about who is more macho.
Sometimes red roses are seen as being a little threatening, but for guys any flower is much the same. Sometimes wild flowers for a wild man is a nice theme.
Reply:i really think he wouldn't... i appreciate what you're thinking, but boys just don't. =S
if i were you, i would think something else to make his bday a very memorable moment... like idk. prepare a nice candle lit meal or something?
-alright
1. daisy
2. bouquet
3. white
Reply:bouquet all colours must be colourful
Reply:1 roses
2ethier one you want to get him i prefear bouqet
3 red blue white ornge

I've used it and they're real good. All the major chain florists are good. Shop around for different arrangements and deals. Be sure to order early for the holidays. =)

Funeral Etiquette--card with flowers?
My husband died last year. We were separated (amicably) for two years. We had 2 children together. I have stayed in touch with his family. My husband's mother died this week. We are sending flowers. Whose names should go on the card? Should it just be me and the 2 children or can their father's name also go on?
Funeral Etiquette--card with flowers?
If my husband and I were seperated, I would simply put down my name and the childrens. Or, you could simply just put down your last name like "The Smith Family"
Reply:Just you and the kids.
If you put your husbands name on it..that is sorta like shoving it in their face as if you want attention for your husband's death when its not about your husband this time..its about the mother
Reply:Dont be disrespectful and put the new husbands name on the card. if you have to just send a card with the childrens name on it. its just not a good time to stir up old feelings others might have a hard time letting go of.
Reply:Just your name and the 2 children.
Reply:only your name and your childrens name should go on the card.Your husband will give his own.

Have you ever been tempted to fake your own death just to see if your employer would send flowers to your?
No. I think my employer would though. I have thought about faking my death so that I can start over in another state.

Are there any sites that deliver cards with messages same day delivery in California?
Basically I'm looking for sending a card (like a get well card) without actually sending flowers with them delivered tomorrow in the LA area. Any sites listed would be very helpful.

Have you ever sent yourself flowers to make your significant other jealous?
totally and it worked. he felt like a schmuck which is what he deserved for treating me the way he had. if your guy thinks someone else is paying attention to you or is appreciating you, then they sometimes think twice about how they treat you and try a little harder.
Have you ever sent yourself flowers to make your significant other jealous?
yeah....everything was going on well the 1st 5minutes even my crush seemed interested, but then a really mean gurl busted everything out and everyone since then treeted me like nuthing!
Reply:no, that sounds sad and lonely.
