What can I send other than flowers to a family member who is passing away?

I need an idea of what to send her and her imediate family until I can go visit this weekend. She has a husband, two grown children, and two grandsons (elementary school age). I was thinking about having a dinner sent, but I could use more ideas since this is the first time that a close family member has passed away in years.
What can I send other than flowers to a family member who is passing away?
You are so sweet and thoughtful! How about sending a care package? CD's of music, homemade cookies, books, cards, etc.

I'm sure whatever you send will be greatly appreciated and what this world needs is more people like you.
Reply:A get well soon card.
Reply:How about a letter - telling them how wonderful you think this person is; sharing any special memories you share with this person; and telling them that they are in your thoughts and prayers and you will be there soon to see them. Thoughtful letters are always appreciated from loved ones. Support is always welcomed by people going through this.
Reply:An inspirational book. This has always been my preference. Be sure to write a message inside.
Reply:How about a donation to their favorite charity??
Reply:I would send her something that would give her peace in her heart. Something that would build her faith ... like a card with a picture of heaven on it and a nice poem. Something majestic that would uplift her spirit and make her want to rejoice that she is going to a wonderful place.

This will also give you comfort and peace too. You could do the same for the family. You could send a praise and worship music CD for her to listen to.
Reply:Maybe not having dinner sent, but bring dinner to have with her. The company may be appreciated. Check with her first.

Consider sending candy (http://www.fanniemay.com/) or make a donation in the memory of the person to a charity.
